Learn the basics of ASP.NET Core and ASP.NET Core MVC in this 8-hour (2 day, 4 hours per day) online session. The class starts from an empty web application and walks through the new project structure, startup system, and configuration structure. Along the way you’ll learn why ASP.NET Core is a complete rewrite of ASP.NET, and what some of the goals of the new product are and how they’ve been achieved. The second day dives into ASP.NET Core MVC, which is similar to ASP.NET MVC 5. However, there are many small differences, such as close integration with Web API, that are worth learning to become productive with the new framework. Students with some experience with MVC will have an advantage, but the pattern will be briefly covered as well for those who are new to MVC.

This class uses Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 and Visual Studio Code 1.0.
